Ellie Brown (pictured below) had a sizzling round to win the PIAB Trophy after 12 years of trying. This was her second win of the season, after winning the Twilight Stableford in June in windy and cold conditions. The wind was still a factor in Saturday’s stunning victory, but the weather was extremely hot – just like her 44 point round. This meant a reduction of 4 strokes off her handicap and she will now play off 28.
Jean Black had the best front 9 (22 pts) and Roz McKenzie the best back 9 (21 pts). Daphne Borham won nearest the pin and Tina Broadley won longest drive. The mystery prize (best stableford points on par 3s) was won by Eilan Moses on countback with 8 pts.
